Markers / Drawings that disappear after 30 seconds

Bringing up an old request of mine again -

Drawing / Marking is hugely useful, however, sometimes im just marking something very temporarily, like the location of a spy or scout i saw, that's goign to be compeltely useless very quickly and little mroe than clutter the map

In addition to drag / click with the appropriate mouse key, could we have the option of pressing, say, ALT + SHIFT + MIDDLEMOUSE DRAG/CLICK to create a marker/drawing that will disappear after 30 seconds or a minute?

If making a disappearing marker takes more keys than making an ever lasting maker, no one will ever use that.

Just like no one take the time to erase makers nowadays.

So personnaly I just erase my allies marker whenever they start bothering me, takes about one click.

I never really thought about this. I can't really think where I would need to still see a line i've drawn after about a minute.


The exception would be if ghosted buildings were off and you wanted to mark out the positions of buildings after a flyover etc.

It's not one more button in the way you're thinking; jsut another button added to th ecombination.. not that hard really. :P

Will help reduce battlefiedl clutter a lot.
I'm sure it could be done in LUA by creating a lsit of markers created with the command and then deleting them as time passed


of course i cant evne run Spring for the moment so what am I talking I can't make it :<

It takes one click to delete markers. FFS, erasing markers takes about as much effort as wishing it.

You can delete allies marker, in case you don't know.

If player can't be bothered to delete markers that really annoys them, they won't bother to use any kind of alternative way of placing marker.

There is no way for the engine to determine if a marker was meant for 3s (kill that thi.., oops gone), or for 3hrs (here lies fusion farm, forever out of our reach).

Why do we have two topics on same subject, both in same forum / created same day?

However, I wish there was way to either delete or hide markers in replays, so as to make prettier screenshots.

This feature is just feature bloat IMHO. There are already too much keyboard combinations, and zwzsg is right, someone who can't be bothered erasing his stuff now won't be bothered to press yet another key when drawing it in the first place.
