Wiki article on Forum Etiquette

Post by jellyman »

I took it on myself to write some tips on forum etiquette on the wiki. The idea is to give people tips on effective communication that they will want to use to help them get better results out of what they post, as opposed to trying to impose rules on them.

I may have to get around to revising that, adding pictures and further content, but it is a great start.

Sadly, I'm afraid people who don't follow netiquette won't read that anyway. :(

Good article. I wish you would add something about these "skilled" players. I read your post about how only the "skilled" players can have opinions. Please elaborate on that in another article :)

I am sure it is not really offtopic. There is an attitude that unless you can beat someone in a game you obviously do not know enough to talk about balance. That sort of statement makes a lot of assumptions that are of course, rude. So it is very on topic as we are talking about etiquette.

And one of those breathalizers that you have to blow in before logging on to the forums. :P

I have a friend who made a lock for his laptop that was breathalizer based. In a fit of irony, he destroyed in a drunken haze a week later.

There might be some good ideas in there, but i suggest that you don't try to implement it in the off-topic-part of the forum.

And you must remember that half the fun exists solely on flaming and snappy comments.
