Multiple queues for factories..

I want us to be able to have 2 units (and more) being built at a time.

Not for the sake of adding a new feature, for the sake of how multiple factories I have seen over time have more than one exit, and it would be appropriate if they would be able to have 1 more unit built so it could look a little better. Not to mention, it would allow us to have multiple of the same "kind" of factory. One would be more efficienct by being a little faster, a little larger, but have two or so units built rather than one at a time...

Plausible?

You mean, you have one build menu button, you click the build menu once, and two or more units come out from that?

I would also be interested in this. I'm guessing you could probably do something with lua spawning units, but that could be a little hacky.

I would like it if players could order infantry 'squads', so that they click the "heavy squad" build button, and two flamers, two repeaters and two standard stormtroopers come out, etc.

i think someone could incorperate a function like that in a new mod. Instead of making 2 independent units at one time, what about having a squad of five that are considdered one unit; many RTSs are doing that

Yes, just like that (and if preferred, they could put both spawn points next to each other so they could have a group come out from one point)

Well, we can incorporate the original, and this one! :twisted:

OR, we could have a queue piled up...

"Create squad," select 5 units and then watch them come out of the holes after they were all built... Like a timer that makes it wait til all of the units were built, then they come out all at the same time, but random holes they come out of...

//end speculation mode

Hahaha, I love thinking about stuff that we can possibly never have, but if was created, it would be an extremely large change that would change the fates of many mods.

It would be easier to bind units together if they were made at the same time, this could be a stepping stone to squad based mods, which... A whole lot of people are bitching that that is what is keeping Spring from going further...

(I don't believe it, but squads would be cool)

mods with small, numerous units like 1944, star wars etc would all benefit from infantry being manufactured in combat ready groups rather than having to make a repeat que for balanced forces

I think you could just spawn units via Lua.

Youre right, they would all benefit from it. i play the Star Wars mod, and i think it is stupid how you must make one infantry at a time.
