New Map - Tempest

Post by hunterw »

DOWNLOAD

Tempest is a 20 x 20 map that holds 8 - 16 players. This map is designed with AA-based mods in mind. There are three strengths of metal patches:

84 low yield @ 1.4
56 medium yield @ 1.9
4 high yield @ 3.7

for a total of 238.8 metal total in the ground. For comparison:

20 x 20 Tempest: 238.8 metal
20 x 10 Delta Siege: 156 metal
18 x 20 Tropical: 144 metal

Features are basically non-existant to keep FPS up on low-end rigs. Make note that this map makes use of a typemap! To keep units from bogging down in shallows, I have used a typemap to slightly enhance the speed of units moving in shallows. Vehicles get only a minor boost, where as kbots have a bit more. This change needed to happen since Tropical, but mod makers have not done anything about it, so I took it upon myself.

I was just surprised because I saw someone thought of a very similar color to what I originally did in my map.

Rather interesting really.

File does not exist!

If you got here from a link, Tell an admin!
Digging it, as I do most maps, but I can't get it downloaded.

map looks really nice, i like the design with the water in the middle.

BTW: All your maps start with T (tropical, Tangerine, Terra and this one), is that on purpose?

Depression belongs in maps as much as happiness.

It's quite beautiful yet depressing at the same time. I myself prefer bright lighting but that's just a personal thing ;p

drab maps do a great job of highlighting the action/explosions though.

I don't use white skies or white fog jack, so your point is moot. Maybe oyu should considered using lua to change up your gui a bit. Outlined text is really nice.

the background on the map Battle For Planet XVII and Whamatunga Riri was white and it made it really hard to see the text so its a valid point :I
