Spring Singleplayer

Post by [Suck]suck »

a spring single player mode/story mode is really needed. maybe we can get stories written for each mod and make missions for them. for example, we could recreate the one year war, or any other event in the U.C. timeline, for Smoth's gundam mod.

Missions for BA or XTA can be a sequel of the original ta story. i remember that cavedog and chris left the end very open. maybe someone could go hideo kojima and make an uber story line for that?

if we can make the missions, especially for gundam, then i think the spring community would grow bigger a lot faster. gundam crossfire SUCKED. quality gundam games are much needed.

I encourage you to get started on this. Yes, if you want it to happen, there's no better person to do it then yourself. You are right, this is a worty endaveur to break new ground in, then more will follow.

In the next version of spring I am told that sm3 is going to be more viable, which means I can make tons of maps from several base textures combined with trepan's lua work I plan on coop missions against gaia player controlled enemies :).

I think that will be fun.. like the old starcraft maps.

While we're at it, why not make a starcraft style map/mission editor with triggers and all that stuff. Now THAT would be cool. Or maybe you can do this with LUA, but not if your a n00b.

Cause that would require someone to develop a graphical scripting solution which is a lot of work.

I made a super cool begining to a mission in XTA on a map with some islands. you see scout planes fly over an enemy outpost on an island, then your anphibious tanks come out of the sea all around it and atlas's fly from off the map and land troops and bombers fly from off the map and bomb each of the defences; all scripted without player control! however, ingame it lasted about 20 seconds, and out of game it took me about 4 hours to write. its VERY easy to make, but very time consuming.

I'm all for this, and I'm working on plans in the shadows, but have no time to execute them myself.

Or some program allowing people to do stuff like that fast... this way we could eat all time needed in one go :)
