Could we have the Oldstyle "painted" (or rendered) Maps combined with the new format ?

unless you make a pattern thats freakin like 12048x12048 or whatever.. you can't have "hand painted" maps with bumpmapping like picasso wants.. :wink:

Because for large areas with repeated textures we can use the texture splat to render out a repetative texture space. Mapconv has a horrible tiling compression that loses a lot of detail at high compression levels.
