OMG WTF!? RedStick Animating Festival!?

Post by Snipawolf »

http://www.redstickfestival.org/

I am SO going to enter next year.. I didn't have a single damn idea this even existed! WTF!? I didn't even know that .5% of the populace in LA knew what an animation was! I dunno what I'm going to animate.. But I just got a good idea! Not to mention, I already half baked this idea and was going to make an animation with it anyways!

Anybody else want to enter?

Edit: IF we can enter, I need to find out...

3d animations are handled by other competitions but really, you don't stand a chance in those. I doubt you've even rigged a biped yet.

An non-animator would have to judge. I am, unfortunately, an animator.

No, no, KDR is right, I probably wouldn't stand a chance :D

Those people have probably, at least 10+ years experience. I however, have.. 1 1/2 of being in the game developing hobbyism, with no prior knowledge and an engine that's a whee bit behind on the animational systems.

However, a Spring Animating contest would be pretty sweet :P

edit: we could also have two kinds, one for animating whatever we want in whatever we want, and one for animating something in Spring!

"Being in the game industry" usually counts only the time you were hired by a company. I have a few years of experience at the hobby level (doing too little to count those 8 years fully) but no industry experience. To even have industry experience you need to be good enough for employment and from what I've seen people who'd qualify for that are really, REALLY rare in Spring.

Take a stroll through the Polycount forums, there's plenty of pro level stuff in there and you'll see how much of a chance you'd stand against those.
