IRC clients

is it possible to connect to the Spring battle net server through another IRC client? just for monitoring channels, etc?

I know it seems pointless, but I'm curious.

You'd need a tunnel for this to translate the lobby protocol to the IRC protocol. I'd like that yeah.

You'd connect on the tunnel with your IRC client and the tunnel thing is connected to the lobby.

I thought about writing one but...

Well, I thought that you could just connect to the server with the IRC client.

I use GAIM for IRC, so I thought that I'd just put in:
taspringmaster.clan-sy.com
fnord.clan-sy.com
But neither work. I made sure my password was in, etc.

You're saying though that you cant connect directly?

No...TASClient uses an entirely different protocol from that of IRC.
