I did this car a while ago. I need to get back into practicing some high poly stuff to add to my portfolio.

This contains 42,000 polys and was made in 3dsmax 6 and rendered with Mental Ray. NOTE: there is a tire tread, it just doesnt show up well on the render.

I've been browsing the internet and found this:

Whoever put it there actually wants $10 for it.

Oh really...

The sad thing is that it's not the only one I've seen, even though the others went for more bucks.

that's insane, wasted polygones too, it doesn't need that cylinder turret base, and the texturing is horrible, here is my model:

My commander model for The Plot of War, actually at just 923 polygons, but I think it looks nice.

Leman Russ, probably around 2,000 triangles (and it's currently 3do, meaning Spring will have rendered each face twice, so around 4,000)

I have a feeling a lot fo that geometry could be removed and put in the texture.. Otherwise, it looks pretty.

I have max9 now and have so far built this heavy missile ship. The total hull is fairly light in polys, but once the 164 missiles and the other weapons are added it comes to just over 63100 polys.

EDIT - I misyped its poly count, I thought 75k looked a little higher than what it should

164 missiles, lol...

That's not close to what I would load on my ships

Have the be balanced with loadout. Too many missiles and you run the risk of

a. The entire ship being lost once the enemy penetrates the armour

b. the ship being grossly underpowered as its sole power source for weapons/defenses will be the engines, which are already busy handing mobility and also extraction if the battle goes wrong

c. Also missiles leave exhaust plumes, though hiding in a smoke screen might be handy to hide, it puts a certain dependance on sensors which can be jammed, unlike eyesight.

Every thing has a weakness, too much is bad, too little is bad, and in the middle is a little bit of both "bad" lol
