If you make an EE mod for SupCom, I'd be tottally there, playing it. And I think more people'd play it. Even if the same percentage of people play it in SupCom as at Spring, that's still a good size increase from the relativly small Spring Community.

But what'd be really nice would be a WWII mod for SupCom. Now that'd be fun to play on that new "We have the entire Earth to play on" map. Now that is an insanely fun map. Makes my computer explode, but it's still fun.

I didn't like it personally...

the ONLY neat part, honestly truely NEAT part is when power generating building is next to a building that uses power, the building using power becomes more efficient on power usage...

I.E. tessalate level 3 power and mass converters....

you get an infinite set of mass converters that make metal at -300 energy instead of -1500 or whatever

its nucking futs how MUCH metal and resources you can make in a single spot without expanding...

thus leading to FARMS of "expiremental" units...

I think I had 40 of the spider things with huge lasers on a single map...

not to mention the ubar artillery thing.. wow, if you have enough power for that thing to sustain fire... its, well, distubingly efficint at killing EVERYTHING on the map...

long story short,
Supcom does:
1- AI destroys framerate from severe pathfinding issues
2- The Energy use, proximity to energy producers and storage things is cool
3- the units are, well bland, until ubar units
4- the submarine carrier, is fucking win, load it to the brim with the tech 3 gunships, and you are ustoppable.

all in all, supcom was fun to toy with, but spring is better.

i might buy it if its not mantis spam and zero-expansion like beta
Still Zero expansion because theres no goddamn modding tools so I can try and make a balence mod (Less gunship speed, Metal makers need more E, make T2 and T3 units not completely redundate the tech levels below it) and the fact GPG makes maps with bugger all expansion capabilities. The Mantis rush is gone though.

I wish they'd hurry up with the modding and mapping tools.
Dude you don't even need tools to mod Supcom, basically the whole game is in LUA! So you can actually do just about anything you want right now. With that said yes the tools will make it easier, but if you really plan to mod for supcom I recommend you at least start brushing up on LUA now

And people have already modded the balance, thats pretty simple...

Theres a user mad map editor, the official one is due to come out within the next 20 days so it's almost here :-)

NOIZE I sure hope you plan on putting you map making skills to use in Supcom :) I really can't wait to see what you do :)

Just promise me you'll give your maps more elevation variation then the devs did and PLEASE put polygons behind the normal mapping effects unlike the devs :P it pains me to look at the maps and see the great normal mapping effect only to rotate the camera or see a unit walk over it to see that it is completely flat, not even a dot of geometry blended in :(

Lol.

I think Chris Taylor read the comic Lucifer.

The seraphim in the comic are a group of elite angels. IN the game they are the race which showed the way to the 'Aeon'.

The idea of the cybran 'nation' is probably from the lilim or lilith in the comic. As they are all half brothers/sisters, they rather refer to themselves as a nation. Kinda like how all the Cybrans are all ..... cyborgs?

You say that as if it's a bad thing. I thought that the whole "Operation Zone expanded" thing was a very neat thing in the campaing. It beats the hell out of rebuilding your base twenty times again in twenty different maps by having six maps that take three hours to get through because it keeps getting bigger...and bigger...and bigger...

Fun!

Supcom is cool, not the end all be all, but on the other hand neither is spring.

Besides... Biased poll is Biased.

I eventually got used to it. Just used to seeing the entire map. It bothered me though becuase I was open on 4 areas. I defended on each, only to find 1 or 2 was actually blocked off by mountains or something.

Yeah, it takes a bit of getting used to, but I still think it's a really neat way to take a campain.
