some music would keep the game going (when you hear nothing, its kinda boring)
it would also keep new people in the game and not end up leaving
i dont know i guess i just dont like all the dullness of hour's spent not hearing anything
of course the music need's to be made by the dev's
there are several tools that can make a tune without breaking any copyright

Your new so before someone tells you.
This is what we call a "MTR" or Monthly topic rotation.
It is a feature request that many users frequently make but has yet to be fullfilled. I do also wish for this feature but it has not been granted yet.
Also, what drives players off is the current desync problem. The developers of spring are working on fixing it as we speak and I am confident that we will see more players stay once that is fixed.
although as always I am going to give this request a +1 because I still want it also :).

If the music is made as a mutator, that will create some problems. For example, let's say some mod has version A (w/o music) and a mutator A-mus (with music), everything else in both versions is the same. Then games A vs A and A-mus vs A-mus are possible, but A vs A-mus is not (mods are considered different), so in the end either everybody has to download the music version or everybody must play with no music (like now). Not much optional choices.
Which has its obvious issues. Two volume controls to worry about as opposed to one. No way to make it change according to situations. If you want to make any modifications to the playlist, you'd have to set hotkeys or alt-tab (which can cause problems). Having to set up the media player before starting the game and after exiting it.-1
I run winamp in the background thank you.
Uh, I thought they were working on resyncing, which is a different thing than fixing desyncing :PAlso, what drives players off is the current desync problem. The developers of spring are working on fixing it
btw winamp uses to much ressources -> phail for non-highend comps.
Yes, there are thin players, but as ZellSF already mentioned, uncomfortable to use.
And in addition, lua ist the perfect tool, to manage the player, which could use the open format ogg (which already was mentioned 58684385 times yet)

Winamp eats your ram, the older versions up to 2.92 (?) or something don't, though. Volume control is a minor issue, I think most players have globally available hotkeys (winamp does with a plugin or out of the box, dunno). Ingame music support would be nice none the less.Caradhras wrote:btw winamp uses to much ressources -> phail for non-highend comps.
My issue wasn't with lack of volume control at all, but with separated volume control.rattle wrote:Winamp eats your ram, the older versions up to 2.92 (?) or something don't, though. In other words, an issue Winamp has no way to fix.
