Change the banner?

I would of thought that mission statement was accomplished a long time ago and is something the spring engine wants to move away from. Why is that still there?

apathy. Programmers program, web designers and artists worry about the rest.

As it so happens, the Spring team is composed of programmers - you do the math. :P

I have a littl javascript on my forum for a randomized banner... it would be neat if we could make a series of banners for each mod that would show randomly.

I propose a "stencil template" for the overlay text..
and then a sumittal competition of pictures to put behind it.
been done before, is like that now, it works..

but yeah, who wants to start makin an overlay template?

I bet we could make a "permanent" template that could, by some form of vbb/html/java/wtf code be automatically overlaid over the images at any time, with the spring logo, mission statement, and some kinda techie horizontal lines with alpha n stuff, and we could change the pictures then on a whim, or everyday, without the need of all the wtf work... :P

If the devs want I can make a site, ill put in the rotating banner and stuff with it.

Otherwise +1 to the new banner with rotating mod showing off

Actually, I think the overlay template should have nothing but that spring logo in the existing banner and the semi transparent interlacing.

Simplicity for the win.

Mael: tons of people have offered to make different things for the site or even new sites, at different times throughout SPring's history - devs rearely take them up on their offer

Not because they're callous, but becuase that's simply something they dont care about...

If you really want to make it, just make the site and SmuG (or cup even could) host it. It wont be "official", but it certainly will be better, and it could poke the devs into worrying about the non-programming things more :P

IMHO the project really needs a dedicated non-programmer that deals with marketting and art in that order...

Part of the issue is that this is fnordias server and fnordia hasnt really done much co-operation. I tried to do stuff early on but fnordia was of the opinion "build it for me then I'll put it up" whereas no help was provided or information of any kind, aswell as an average of 3 weeks or more for a reply from him.

This is further compounded because fnordia controls the domain names so the devs cant simply switch to iamacups server.

I'd offer, but my time is limited and my focus is elsewhere. Curses.
