Ahh man that looks fun. I mean basically it's just a really big touchscreen, copying an idea from a film but damn does it look good in practice.

Still while it would be very cool to play spring on that think how much money you'd need to be able to afford the 3' by 8' screen (non projecter) let alone the touch sensitivity and processing power to be able to do all that.

Normal touch screen cannot handle more than 1 "touch"... It's new kind of technology.

yup this is fukking cool. It probably looks better in that video than it's actually like in practice I think however. Maybe it's just looks good but gets annoying and slow in the long run, and slobbery on the screen. I would love to know what it's like doing artwork on the thing (and playing games...).

Humans are good enough in using tools that I doubt this would do much a mouse wouldn't. Except leave you with only one button, that is.

There's all sorts of interfaces like that.

Some grad studnets somewhere built an awesome music generator using
1) A projector
2) Digital camera

look on youtube; basically by putting differently-shaped cardboard cutouts on a glass table and shifting them around and moving their hands, the software forms connections on-the-fly and generates music - one type of cardbnoar indicates the type of sound (guitar, violin), another shape of of cardboard in close proximity to it defines its tones, and still others can define things like dynamism, loops, etc...

its bloody brilliant :)

nice but can their project control a mouse cursor? I'm not particularly interested in making music with webcams.

i think VR globes would be more useful [with state of art tech, not the nintendo power globe], you could record gestures (like pointing with one finger or two) to replace mouse buttons and have 3d position (instead of the 2d of the screen)

but gestures would require training and no gadget that requires any sort of training would sell by today's stardars

heh yea VR would be best... some kind of room where you but on one of those masks, and they display in 3d from where your looking. Then you point and "fire" like handgun to open applications (or from your choosing). Or drag things with a grapple like movement. Oh man, and games... it would be the Wii * 100! :D
