Assign a Bot a Starting Position?

Post by Dysprosium »

Hi, how do you assign a bot (AI) a starting position on a map? I know what team number I want him to spawn at, but I don't know how to actually do it.

I've tried asking help in the chat channel but nobody could come up with the correct solution.

Thanks.

unforntunately, that is the only possibility, what is, if you started a quick lan-game with a friend to show him the great spring thing, really anoying if you forgot to check this setting before entering the game...

It would be very usefull if the hosts of the bots could set their start-position ingame, but that would effort some huge coding i think, so it wouldn't be realized until you don't play spring anymore.

Would be nice if TASClient assigned real team numbers as

Sorted out real team numbers based on lowest -> highest numbers, pain to code. But works nice. Been able to host a game & not always be team 0 & having AI's mixed around with players

Atm real team numbers are based on Player X & then AI X for sorting out team numbers. So Player Teams = 0 -> X and AI Teams = X+1 -> Y

i been thinking of trying my hand at modifying it and compiling a exe to play vs bots on with my brother, and just have it like, put the AIs commander at a random position inside of its ally team start box as set in tasclient.

Yes looka t the above thread, the cheating way is the best way to choose your bots' starting position

So in-game, you'll type something like

.cheat
.team 2 <-- bot's team, assuming there are 2 human players in-game
.team 3
.team 4
and carry on .team <number> until you've finished placing all bots
then .team 0 to revert back to your own team

Have fun!
