Useful anti-micro feature for the Atlas

Post by Doomweaver »

I think that we need to be able to set a drop off spot for an air tranport. Whenever it picks up a unit, it automatically reicieves the order to unload at that spot.

We also need a feature so that an air tranport set to guard a factory will automatically load any unit it builds.

These two together, plus the already implemented (I think) area load should reduce a lot of micromanagement, me thinks.

I think it's a good idea. Maybe we can not only use area load but also area unload, which might be shown as a marker on the map. So you can assign transports to either move from area 1 to area 2 or from area 2 to area 1. Any unit that moves into the area will be moved.

Nevertheless my experience is that atlas or other transports are relatively rare, they mostly fulfill an important role in the first phase of the battle where players are fighting over territory.

There was a topic about paths brought up along time ago, now that I think about it, it was a very well thought out idea. You define paths and attach them to factories and rallie points etc.

I thought all the features mentioned above where already implemented and in use?! In soem games I ahve untis roll out fo factory straight into a pickup zone where they're taken to a rally point by air transport. All automated too so no micromanagement either, I just need to make sure my rally point doesnt overflow.

Alantai, I have always failed in setting the transporters to repeat -on with area load/unload. Thought these area -load and area -unload commands do exist.

I just tell ti to area laod where I want, move to area unload, (yes you can do an area unload) and then repeat orders, and it's always worked for me save when a factories int he laod area and it tries to laod untis midway thru cosntruction and ends up spinning around voer factories lol
