I was kinda thinking, maybe we could have light effects when guns are fired, when missiles are flying and when lasers are being shot, I think that would add alot to the atmosphere of the game, just think of Mech Commander, which had similar effects which did add to the experience.

If we could make weapons have tags to make them glow(lightsources), specifically missile flares, any energy weapon, and then having the script able to define these light sources aswell.

I can see this would open up night time maps for us, and new strategies.

I'm all for it, I already thrown in the day/night (sun system) idea before.
Next step is making LOS depend on it. (little light - can't see the enemy)
And then allow units to have flares and search lights.

Surely a light textured strong alphard ground flash of sorts could be used to follow the missiles. Then have a tag build so that its alpha is automatically adjustable to the closeness of the missile to that of the ground. light vertex lighting would be heavy on the gcard n cpu on mass battles u often get l8 in game.

SJ has made a "sweepy laser" tag to that lasers will trace units, so wouldnt it be possible for the code to trace the distance of the projectile to the ground if it can already trace the distance of the unit and adjust the course? sending the info to adjust the strength of a light texture would be cool, just a crazy idea that popped into my head...

would this be possible or am i barking up the wrong tree??
