Spring Lobby Map Download
Is their any possibility of the in-lobby map download feature being reimplemented for use? as it certainty worked brilliantly and made Spring much easier and more enjoyable :)
I believe I heard it was due to bandwidth usage? is their a figure on how much was actually used on a monthly bases?
Regards!

Potentially I could consider hosting a similar system for the lobby (though need further details etc) - perhaps a feature could also be included to allow multiple 'Map Host Server' URL's to be adjusted to allow more than one possible hosting system..
Perhaps TA Spring map downloader could also include a small 'logo' spot for the hosting server (may have avoided the previous problem with who ever originally hosted?)
Personally I really dislike having to go to a web browser to download a maps.

What about adding p2p for map downloads into the Lobby? Some bittorrent maybe? Imagine that, someone joins a game and starts downloading from 5 of 8 players. He get's the same speed as from Unknown Files, but without starting his browser.
It has it cons and pros. There are many security issues as well as it's not so easy to implement as adding a download link. But it surely would be the most easy to use.

search bittorrent or torrent on the forum and see the thousands of threads about this topic.
i think the general concensus was, You implement it and then we will see how it works.
the lobby used to paras a html page that had links to very single map on it, and links to the mini map.
it would then generate a huge directory full of text files in this format
Mapname.Cache (or something similar)
in there was the link to the map and a couple of other bits of info.
then the lobby client read these files in and downloaded the maps acordingly.
im not against this as long as theres a "dont share" button, my internet connection is crippled by uploading stuff. if there was not a dont share button i would quit spring
(as i have enough trouble staying connected to the lobby server as it is)
