Error Sending Information 1049

I got this message whenever a game i joined started, and whenever i host, no other players connect after i start the game.

This message only started coming up after i upgraded to .50b1 or .50b2 (i was on holiday for a week, went straight to .50b2). After several attempts at different patches, i deleted everything spring and did a clean install with the .50b2 regular installer. Im still gettting exactly the same problems, and cant play any spring games.

My firewall is configured for spring (Norton I.S.), and i have no router.

can anyone help? ive been told this is a version issue, but ive completely reinstalled...
