Graphics weirding up; help, anyone?
Sometimes, when I play, my graphics are all weirded up. (Screens are below.) Sometimes it happens during the course of a game, sometimes I start the game with it; however, usually, they'll become "normal" again all of a sudden. I have no idea what might be causing it.
These are my settings:

Here are a few example screens:

The "bars" across the terrain show the terrain as if it were under water, and appear to be fixed in relation to the camera. Units and buildings show up "normally" (as normally as they are in these conditions) on them, but they hide terrain texture and as such make it a real pain to expand your base (in the game in which I took the last few screenshots, I built a shipyard right on top of an UW metal spot >_<) and order your units around. Fortunately, this issue usually resolves itself, but this appears to occur randomly and only after an extended period of time. The strange thing is that it only occurs when playing multiplayer; as far as I can remember, I have not had this issue in singleplayer (read: Spring.exe instead of TASClient.exe) once.
I was wondering if anyone else has this same problem, or if anyone knows what might be causing it and how I could try and solve it. I have had this issue since 0.73b1, though it might have occured too had I had an earlier version; I don't know.
I play on a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop with, to my knowledge, no custom modifications, running WinXP Home Edition, I don't know which version.

Moar specs plz. (gpu, ram, cpu, etc)Strategia wrote:I play on a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop with, to my knowledge, no custom modifications, running WinXP Home Edition, I don't know which version.
Graphics card: Intel GMA 950
Processor: Intel Core, I don't know which version - 1.66Ghz at least
RAM: 512 MB
Screen: LCD, XGA, 1280x800
That's all I can dig up right now. Basic specs taken off teh internets, as AFAIK there's been no customizing of this laptop; I don't have admin rights, so I can't look the actual specs up. But this shouldn't be too far from the truth.

make sure your viewradius isn't set ridiculously low. i think you use home and end to raise and lower it.
also, make sure the spring settings aren't cranked all the way down for the LOD settings.
if neither of those suggestions fix it, then i'd try getting new video card drivers. if that doesn't fix it, it might just be a hardware problem, and you're SOL.

alright man i've seen this before,
its due to your anisotrophic filtering, what you could try out is a different driver,
or perhaps a tweaker tool
ngohq.com has a nice one i use nHancer myself, its great for nvidia cards
ati on the other hand is made of crap .. so if you got one of those just remove it and use it as a paper weight

Trust me..... you don't.hrmph wrote:Very strange! I actually like the effect it has on the nano particles in the second screenshot.

Those corrupted models (with all the spiky bits everywhere) i THINK is from overheating or something. I get the same thing happening in games like HL2, Sims2 (my sister plays it <_< >_>) Doom3, anything with heavy 3D effects. It doesnt happen in Spring, which is less graphically stressing, only in those high demand games. It also happens more when my computer has bad ventilation, like I put the side of the case back on, which supports my over heating idea, but I dont know for sure.
Re: Graphics weirding up; help, anyone?
you guys are missing it completely.
easy fix
while ingame, press Home to increase view radius or End to decrease it, set it to something reasonable. mines at 22
