Think what effect this would have:
The Soviet's Project 621 was designed as a landing ship-transport submarine that could carry out landings behind enemy lines. This underwater giant had two vehicle decks, and was designed to carry a full infantry battalion of 745 troops plus 10 T-34 tanks, 12 trucks, 12 towed cannon, and three La-5 fighter aircraft. :shock:

The page you used as a source lost some info in the translation. Russian page suggests that pr. 621 could also hold 4 cars (jeeps) and 2 light 45mm anti-tank guns (12 towed guns are heavy AT 85mm) in addition to what is listed there, the fighters were La-11 and not La-5, and the sub had deck mounted rocket launchers for heavy fire support of the landing. :-)
Seriously, that thing was well beyond the capability of Russian shipbuilding at the moment. Too many new and untested design decisions...

Using is would probaly be risky, because if you were detected before landing you would lose all that... :-)

Happened to me with an tech 2 core amphib transport. Those things are slooooow. :cry:

I think that they are supposed to be used during a large assault, not to discretly unload while the enemy is not paying attention, so its why they are slow.
