Hi,

I'm fairly new to Spring, but have experience making maps for SimCity.. so thought I'd try converting a few over.

Here is my first attempt(12x24):

Already I have seen how unwilling people are to try new maps, so if anyone would be kind enough to fire it up solo and give me some pointers.. I'd really appreciate that 8)

Firstly, you can imbed images in your posts. Use Image.

Secondly, look at how other mappers present their views on the map- showing ground-level shots is OK for some scenic POVs, but it doesn't help us actually critique.

Thirdly, what I could see leads me to two critiques (I know this is an early effort, so please don't take this too badly or anything, and I've only painted one map for public release so my opinion's pretty minor):

1. The blood-red sand you're depicting looked very pixelated in the shots. Use more blur and blend a lot more.

2. The shots I saw of the heightmap look very natural, but I have a hard time imagining great gameplay. People generally gravitate towards maps that have good gameplay over maps that look pretty but play poorly.

new users cant post urls in their posts so hyperlinks and images are out of the question. Its an antibot measure.

Just wait till your postcounts bigger and youll be able to start using hyperlinks etc.

The blood-sand looks like real blood instead of sand, so it probaly needs improvement :-) .
