Basicly the idea is having objects (like a flag, or a pole, a doodle or just an icon) you can move around the map and place wherever, for the only purpose of sending troops there (from factories, or just a group of units) and give orders. Sort of a dinamic group.
To make them useful, have a bar in the ui with icons representing them, so that you can double click them to show the flag, or give orders to units using the icon instead of moving to the location in the map/minimap. keybinds would make them even more useful.
Uses of this:
Less micro: you can just set you factories to "move to flag 2" and move the flag around as you see fit
Flags add orders to unit orders queue: ordering the flag to "attack location" gives a one time "attack location" to all units that arent "moving to flag" (they are already there or doing something different), "repeat: attack location" would give that order to all units that go to the flag.
This could also be used as an orders buffer, instead of giving the order to build lots of defenses to a con, give it to a flag, that way you could micro your con out of trouble if attacked and still keep the orders, or give those orders to a new con if your prev con died.
Several flags to make attacks more complicated: "bomb here" "follow this route and attack up front" "sneak from behind and attack", etc
Add macros to flags: examples:
when (10 bombers arrive at/belong to flag) -> call my attention (a sound, a message...) or attack flag 2
if (flag has no units anymore or are under attack) -> call my attention.
if (units in flag's hp <30%) -> flee to flag.
What do you think? It needs some polish but i want to hear some opinions. some of this features would be neat for doodles and drawings, but i think most of this can be added without much change in the current engine.
mobile "move to" flags/shortcuts

Ah yes: This is one thing that Supcom has that I've hoped spring would adapt as well. To go along with this it would be nice if we had a strategic view similar to Supcom's. Basically it would just show up like you ctrl-a'd and held down shift. But it would show this permanently for every unit when it was turned on.
