Water

Post by Sheekel »

Not really possible ATM, but it'd be cool none the less.

It'd be a new strategy to make pumps along the shores and pump out all the water so the ships get beached.

You could also counter this by building pumps to put the water back in.

If there isnt any water, make some! For example, you could fill the canyons in Xanthe Terra and send ships in.

A bit unrealistic IMO, but the biggest problem would be that pathfinding must be regenerated after the water height has changed, probaby even more than with dynamic terrain.

It may be possible to change the value for the water and force a recalculation of the water, but in Spring, the water height currently is a "blanket" value; anything at or under the "blanket" level is water. You couldn't have multiple ponds, for example, with varying height, as it stands. All water is at constant height.

It would be interesting to be able to change the water level in game (we could also make it happen naturaly like the change of wind strengh to make the battle more interesting), but I think that its largely more complicated and engine edition requiring than most of other things we can do, so I dont think its gonna happen soon :( .

Play Maelstrom, not Spring.
