128x128 in spring is impossible.
Photoshop image size can only be 30000x30000 pixels (roughly 58x58)
So until something happens with "stretching" the texture map, we're SOL.

how bout multiple maps making one big map like 4 64x64 or 16 32x32 (depends on Ram of course) maps combined together in spring to make one 128x128 map.
but then it comes down to loading times?
time for some testing
by the way what information is in the mapnamehere.pe file as it is 2/3? the map size (MB wise)? unit pathfinding data?
HDD Space disappearing

correct I was thinking of the ram requirement.. lol. I meant to say the epic maps. However, I still like the idea of 128 X 128. I know alot of you wouldn't care for it. but I also know that you wouldn't have to play on those maps.Tangaroa wrote:128 by 128 was impossible in original TA too.
If my memory serves me right, the max was 64 by 64.
If we can still make 30 by 30 maps, thats fine for now, its plenty big enough for most things.
64X64 didn't take more then an evening. 128X128 would be awesome for term paper weeks. :)

I should probably mention that I am a big table top wargamer... and once we were playing a game that took up an etire blanket in the middle of my floor. I think the blanket was 8X6. it was funny because when people died that game we would just knock over the mini. As the game became more and more in the center of the blanket we rolled up the edges. That game was played in the middle of my dormroom floor for at least 2 weeks. it was soo much fun.
I wish I still had time for that stuff.
