i was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. i got my new system up and running and have everything maxed out. with the options, the only thing i have checked are reflective units and 3d trees and water is set to the highest, forgot whats its called. 16x AA and AF at 1360x768. now, with shadows, i was getting 15-16fps. without shadows i was getting anywhere from 150-180fps. turned down AA and AF but the game still ran poorly with shadows on. has anyone experienced this, regardless of AA and AF?
specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ AM2 socket
Gigabyte GA-M59SLI motherboard
2GB DDR2 RAM
dual 8800GTS's
horrible FPS with shadows

i run a slightly crapper system than you, and i find that without SLI turned on the shadows run better. however the overall performance boost from SLI is better, with shadows off.
so just dont play with shadows they sux
apparently theres a way of improving nvidia on amd but i cant find the option in the nvidia control panel, pester AF
if you get a reply post back here
i would like to know

Check this thread for specific settings for Spring:

Although - I would not change the global settings, but create a new "Program Settings" entry specifically for Spring.exe
In addition to the settings Argh has highlighted there, you will want to set the "Threaded optimization" setting to "Off" - I also have a dual core Athlon, and when that was on, my fps was terrible (like 20fps on a simple map), but when turned off, the fps shot up to over 100 on the same map.
