SM3 at 1600/1200, with 2048 shadows and multiple texture stages, and dynamic water ON. Look at my FPS, and yes, that's in motion- if the problems with unit steering were fixed up a bit more, imagine the results ;)

JC, this rules. Only problem that I see (obviously, milage is probably going to vary, depending on user and hardware) is that water is occasionally "tearing". But otherwise... well, it's just plain cool. I've tested with FX and other stuff, and it really appears to be working well. Haven't tested with decals for buildings yet, but I assume they use the same code as the FX for Groundflashes.

I've never been able to get dynamic water to work without a horrible flicker coming in after a bit of time. 6800 Ultra A64 4000+.

Hey Argh, sorry if you've already posted this somewhere, but what are the vital specs of your PC? (CPU/video/RAM)

Is this a testversion?
Because i thought shadows dont work yet on sm3 maps.
On a similiar scene at 1024x768 I would get like half the fps I think..

geforce 6800
1024MB ram
2,08 ghz

This is the latest installer build you're looking at- not a general public release.

As for specs... my machine is very much a last-generation computer, and is starting to look rather slow, other than the video hardware:

Athlon 2800+
1024 DDR 400
GeForce 7800

I should note, also, that I've tried this SM3 map with EE, and... er... that isn't working right. The Dynamic Water does some bizarre stuff visually. I also tested with XTA, and it does the same thing.

sm3 is indeed very much gfx limited, and much less cpu limited than smf.

I think I dont render the reflected terrain currently, so that might explain the visual weirdness. FPS will go down a little as well when the water-reflection is drawn too.

You get higher frame rate then me on lowest graphics, even though all my specs better, except for my 6150 geforce graphic card.

IIRC hes using custom (forced) driver settings that makes his card run faster with spring.

That makes a world of difference, more than anything. You've got a crappy integrated gfx card, and he has a high end geforce with more than 12 times as much pixel and vertex processing power...

Cough, BSG reference

I too noticed a nice FPS bump on maps. Now grass no longer makes my computer flip out, like it used to!
