Anyone else play it? Not the stupid computer game, but the actual table-top Turn-Based Strategy game. If so, post pics of your armies if you have any, or just say what armies you have and stuff.

Some of mine:

They're not very well painted, aye. They're actually the first I've painted in 10 years or so (and even then, my painting skills 10 years ago were atrocious to say the least)

I've never actually played, but I have some half-painted Tau Crisis Suits I keep meaning to finish. Also, me and my brother used a squad of... some human infantry as characters for his Frag game... it's a tabletop version of an FPS, basically, so we painted the infantry into 4 squads of 5 people each... looked very cool.

I take offence at the stupid RTS comment, but thats my opinion. I used to have a hundred or so dollers worth of Space marines. That is a single tac-squad and a dreanaught. I looked at what I had gotten for a hundred dollers and said: "Screw this! I don't have that kind of money!"

I've got $90 worth of Tau, and that's three squads and three Crisis suits.

Too bad I own no paint, though.

I have ~5000 pts of Eldar, ~2000 pts of Tau, and my cousins space marine army which is also ~2000 pts which I have yet to finish painting..

so yeah I like warhammer 40k, or just 40k, since warhammer is the fantasy stuffs..

What the hell kind of ripoff is $100 for a single Tac squad and a Dread?

It's very useful to collect solely by buying off other players or ordering bits. With the boxed shit you usually end up with a crapload of stuff you don't need/didn't want. With bits ordering you get and pay for ONLY what you want so it can cut 25-50% off prices, and you don't end up with a crapload of crap you don't need.

You can buy just what you want? I've been buying from Legends. Or I have bought from Legends before I started going there for comic books only.

Mmmm...comic books. Why aren't there Warhammer 40K comic books? Those would be awsome!

oh crap...

zoombie, you're gonna have to shoot yourself now, you just gave me an idea...

Anyway, back on topic: Don't play myself, but I've gotten multiple people into playing despite that...

Too expensive. I have a partial Space Marine army and a partial Harlequin army for 40k, some old Lizardmen and Skeletons for Fantasy. Also, a Dark Eldar Blood Bowl team.

I don't play any more. My roommate was very good at Warhammer, and his articles on Tyranid strategy are still renowned despite being editions out of date.

I like Squats, Harlequins and Dwarves.

Neddi likes the freak races. I always liked the space marines and necrons, but thats cause they are cool and shootie. Oh, but above them, Orks are the most fun! Orks orks orks orks orks orks orks!

I won't even try. I still have a Battletech starter set I haven't played a proper game with ONCE. These overly complex games aren't very good for having friends come over and play a game. Puerto Rico is pretty much the maximum of complexity for that.

I've got about 3k points of Eldar (now gathering dust) and about 3.5k points worth of Skaven.
I used to soley play 40k, but the current rules system sucks (it's too simple in my opioion), so now it's just fantasy for me.

Oh and uhh Zombie, you might want to try googeling warhammer and comics, cause' you knw, it might turn up something...

Critique?

The red armor of those space marines is kinda bland. Thats just blood red and red ink, am i correct?

I've only played these stupid PC games (there are about 10 or something and about 5 or more for consoles). This tabletop stuff is way too expensive and time consuming... :-)

The best Warhammer game for the computer is, hands down, Space Hulk. That game is STILL scary and it's over ten years old! I can only run it with Dos box, for crying out loud, and I coulden't stand to play it for more than an hour an a half because I was too scared.

I used Blood Red and Red Gore for the main colours, Red Ink/Black Ink and a tad of shading.

There's something deeply, deeply wrong with you, Zoombie.

No there isn't. Have you played Space Hulk, either the table top or the vidio game version? Those games are badass mixes between WH40K and Aliens. The vidio game is one of the first 'tactical FPS's' and is insanely difficult. It all seems fine untill one of your storm bolters jams and then it's nuts for your marine!
