Making groups ?

Post by nicko117 »

Am I the only one who can't make groups under linux (native spring client) ?

Neither making works nor invoking.

For example, when I affect the "metal maker AI" for some metal maker, they get a number (I suppose it's the groups number ?) on them ... but none of the SHIFT+# keys invoke them ...

And CTRL+# doesn't work for my own groups ...

Any ideas ?

Thats normal.

There are two types of groups:
  • User assigned (0-9) (ctrl+number to assign, number to select, etc.)
  • Automagically assigned (for GroupAI / HelperAI) (>= 10)

Ok for automagically groups from AI. It's clear u can't select them.

But mine doesn't work either .... CTRL+num does nothing

Play with your uikeys.txt. If nothing else helps, post the output of /keydebug when pressing ctrl+#.

Ok I'll try to modify the uikeys.txt tonight.

It's definitely a keyboard issue, but it may only happen in non-english country. As yesterday I've had the groups working when I set the keymap to "us" (instead of "fr"). It made also work the two keys to change the building orientation and some other feature that wasn't working ...

I'll try to remap some keys to be abble to work with a "fr" layout.

Ok for automagically groups from AI. It's clear u can't select them.

But you CAN select them

You can select any group without using a key combo auto magic group AI or suer assigned, by clicking on a unit in that group and pressing the select group button at the end of the commands at the side.

OR

Double click on a unit in a group and all the units in that group are selected.

Double clicking on a unit not in a group will select all units of that type on the screen. e.g. double click on a peewee and you end up with the entire peewee horde selected.

Ok, thanks to /keydebug and the good documentation inside uikeys.txt, I was able to reprogram the numbers keys 1-0 to make groups working for my keyboard layout.

Now map drawing, gui opacity control, menu inc/dec work also ! nice :)

I'am really happy :) I'll be a little less noob ingame now :p
