GMod (Game, not Mod)

Post by Snipawolf »

I have gotten myself into quite a fix, my resolution is buggered up and it constantly displays "Out of range" on my monitor. How do I manually set the resolution for Gmod? I can not get in game to fix it...

ATI or nvida? The latter have resolution overrides in the driver panel (not always activated). I think ATI got something like that as well.

When it's out of range then either the frequency is wrong or the res too high... or both. You can use the overrides to force 3d apps to use certain frequencies instead of having the app decide on it's own, i.e. 1024x768x32 can be restricted to 75 hz only.

Got no idea at the moment on how to restrict the resolution though. Doesn't this game have some sort of plain text config file in it's directory or registry settings which specify the resolution?

I've checked my games, my computer, my documents, and the whole steam folder, I still can't find a basic text file to edit....

I'll see if I can force nvidia to make it use 1024x768...

Edit: Damnit, I can't find it on this computer, but I saw it on my older one.. Wtf?

You can only force it to use a certain frequency at that resolution, not the res itself.
