But do you have permission to edit XTA in the first place?

No, obviously. I'm making an ideological stand and deciding to do it reguardless of permission, in accordance with my previous (mod-deleted) opinion that "intellectual property" belongs to everyone collectively (especially considering this entire adventure is based on GPL).

Revolution! Let's abolish the copyrights which are nothing but another mean for the capitalist pigs to oppresses the masses! The old system is on the verge of collapsing, property must be redefined! Data wants to be free too!

Freesound project you say? Interesting lead, althought I was more hoping of finding a way to create sounds from scratch than a large free sound library. I mean, althought I may not be very good at it, I know that with Wings3D / 3DsMax / Rhino3D / Maya I can build a whole model from scratch, that with Photoshop / Gimp / Paint Shop Pro I can draw a texture from scratch (although using a photo as a base probably help alot), but for sounds, I don't know. Maybe recording live sounds then editing them to remove the noise, cut them, normalise them, etc.. could work, save that nothing in my house can make the sound of a laser or of a slow explosion or of a bertha. And I'd like to know if soundbits are all based on real sounds, or if one can create nice sounds simply by editing wave signals with a sound editor. But this probably should go in a topic of its own.

I wonder if my TA storm generator works in Spring, if not if it can be made to work in Spring, if yes how cool it looks.

Uh what's wrong with asking and showing a little respect for the work in the first place? I hardly doubt you'll find it funny if someone publishs stuff you made as his own. I don't mean stuff which is based off something you made.

As for the sounds, I've heard Audacity is a good (free) tool to create sounds from scratch. I have no experience with it as of now but PauloMorfeo does so you might want to talk to him.

Manored: just ask in the XTA dev thread for allowance to make a variant of it, I doubt they'll say no.

I think it was a parody of SpikedHelmet's over-the-top nature over stuff like that, especially as he refers to capitalist pigs.
