5th Dimension discovered on Hoth!!!

Post by Buggi »

Okay, so I was messing around with MapHardness and decided a snowy planet is soft, so I set Hoth's value to 1.

And in doing so I unveiled Spring's secret 5th dimsension!!

Behold, the result of a nuke on this frozen planet.

Now that sucker goes down about to about -3000, almost to the core of Spring. :D

Curious on what your comander would do?

Well, he digs even deeper. His crater hits -6000 or more.

Now, if you'll notice the large moho extractor in the ridge to the left. It was unharmed in the explosion, but raised because of the effect damage had on it. I "restored" the land and found yet another miracle. Upon opening this vortex to the unknown lead me to floating units!!

hehehehe

(I was going to post this in a separate topic, but it seems to fit here)
You can also "bury" units underground with the Restore which then can fire their weapon through the ground and explode as soon as they hit the serface (lightning is an exception to this). The funny thing is that other units trying to target it always see dirt in the way and are moving around it (which are getting shot at from underneath).
If a unit Moves while under dirt, they instantly appear on the surface. This is really interesting when you put factories and labs underground, because the units they manufacture will be protected underground untill they move. So the result is that you have units Springing out of the ground.
I was wondering if this was a feature, or a bug...since on most maps it takes allot of resources and time to blast a whole deep enough (without hitting the watertable), then build units in it, and restore all the dirt back.

-Yes

@Isaactoo... I'm thinking bug. :-)

@Storm, I reset to 25 and it seemed okay, my commander blast didn't give me the extreme results as shown here.

Well even on antarctica where there is a 2 km thick snow layer on top of the existing mountains I wouldn't expect a commander blast to create a huge crater. Only the top snowy layer would be destroyed easily, however the hard frozen ice underneath it would only crack(which would be a nice effect) and not create a huge crater.
