Just played a few beta games - I had more fun playing the .4 versions of Spring.

My specs: NVIDIA GeForce FX5900 Ultra
2 3.2 Ghz P4 processors
1 GB RAM

So it's a reasonable system.

The frame rate was under 10, and the graphics were just ugly. The whole concept felt clunky. It was no fun.

I new it was over-hyped, but I never expected it to be this lame.

Actually, no. You've got a FX5x00 card, that's sub-par by itself. Never mind that Sup Com isn't even released yet, of course it's aimed at hardware better than what's considered decent today. My GF6800 shows slowdown as well but by the time SC comes out the 7x00 and 8x00 cards will be commonplace.

I'd attribute the ugliness (especially the many missing effects) and in part the slowness to the beta status, the balancing will probably get tweaked a lot as well.

10 FPS? I got much more than that, and I was running the game in 1600x1200. I wonder what kinds of evil stuff you did to it.

runs nicely on my PC. I'll be honest there are only 2 reasons why im buying it really 1. Single Player (;.;) 2. Novelty

supcom licks.
The graphics are poor as hell. Units are high res and look awesome, but there is no way in hell you can notice this unless you are zoomed in 100%, where the game cant be played from. the aircraft are impossible to track or get a good look of. its like epic epic. the factories are the only units of normal size, and I could only play it on 1200x 1024 res cuz on anything lower, everything was too small and the interface too big.

the gameplay sucks, the formations are terrible and units move in single file lines, the commanders d-gun feels terrible, the air combat is so hard to find Ive never even seen it and the ultra units are about the size of a TA l1 tank. I beat the AI on balanced, rush and easy on first attempt. my framerate was fine and i had the graphics maxed except for shadows. the terrain and units dont fit together and looks like crap, the trees look like shit and GUI made me cut a gash in my forehead when i nutted the screen in frustration, the zoom licks and you cant rotate.

Im sure the "its a beta lol" factor counters some of this but good luck to them making somthing that dosnt suck my balls on release. worst use of a hours downloading bandwidth I ever made.

the trees look like shit? i think they don t ! there are thousands of trees !
and if you complain about graphics why do you play spring?
if you want big scale you don t have the best graphics...

...you can rotate your screen...

you play a multiplayer beta against a not finished AI? complain about it?^^

You can judge the gameplay after playing only some few games against the AI?

there are thousands of trees, which look like crap.
spring has good graphics. they are functional, scaled well and pleasing. not mega high poly or high defenition, but easy to see, understand and fun. supcoms graphics are not ever seen, you can only play the game weell when zoomed out so far you cant see them.
big scale? oh please. ive never hit the 200 unit limit, generally its over by then.
how do you rotate the view?

yeah this was my thought you did not play the game properly...

i allways hit the unit limit which is set to 500 atm.

just hold alt to ratate screen....

if i compare graphics supcom - spring i must say you can t compare it...

spring has good graphics compared to TA ! but not to newer games...

yeah i like the trees.... i think they look good enough! You want a hardware eating tree? only 5 on a map from them? or uglier trees and more natural maps?

AI? There's an AI? Whoa, I didn't notice that.

Just got done playing my first match (ranked so it was against another noob). Man, what a porcfest. Might have been because it was a noob match but it ended up being mostly T3 bot spam (I tried adding some T2 units in the hope that some of them are effective for dealing with T3 bots but none were, only non-T3 bot unit that worked was the T3 bomber, one shot one dead bot). I got an LRPC up first so I could freely demolish his base for quite a while (though that thing refused to fire at his fortifications despite those being outside of the minimum range and no obstacles in the way). Lost a few experimentals against his defenses, occassionally threw a bunch of T3 bots and arty at his defenses with not very much success (except for keeping him in check and preventing him from attacking since I wiped his mobile force with my attacks), he breached my defense once and killed my LRPC which I quickly rebuilt and it ended when I got a lucky LRPC hit on his ACU (apparently com ends game). Total time? 2 hours.

Gunship swarms rape everything except for T3 AA which rapes them. Mobile AA is worthless, T1 and T2 AA is worthless, only fighters or T3 AA can take air units down before they finish their job.

Oh, right, I should submit the replay so the devs can figure out why that LRPC refused to fire at his fortifications.

Dunno, the models look professional quality (of course), the effects were about on par with Nanoblobz in looks (yes I'm serious). If Argh got some professional artist to make better units NB could compete with SC in the visuals department. Also NB doesn't allow spamming only one unit like that so I might even prefer NB.

yeah spamming one unit type is for noobs ;)


go watch some replays from good players.... and you will see the usage of all types of units...

I tried to use more unit types but couldn't find anything that destroyed those bots (except for strategic bombers and those take forever to build and always got raped by the T3 AA nearby).
