Erm.... the shadows on the grille isn't anything special at all, any decent render engine can do the same or even better.
Hah! One problem, that engine ran it during the cutscenes like that, that is why I meant it was good.

Even Wings3D can render shadows
Yes.... whats your point? So what if the engine ran cutscenes that showed the shadows on the grille? Why is it even a problem?

And why the self-contradiction?

First you say its cool cause there's shadows, now you agree that its nothing special.
Even Wings3D can render pictures with shadows, not cutscenes.

I was referring to the cutscene when I said it rendered the shadows, so that was cool because the engine is very old.

The actual rendering (by today's standards) is sub par.

Now someone else go find some renderings :-)

Edit: Whilst I continue to look through those WiC ones.

SJ: You work at Massive!?

Fanger & rattle:
Battletech and Robotech both started back in the good old days where people weren't anal about IP.

IIRC, the artist who did the designs for Robotech/Macross sold the designs to FASA as well, but Battletech is not based off Robotech.

When the concept of IP became widely accepted, people started suing each other to hell.... and FASA vs Harmony Gold were no exceptions.

Both did not want to lose their earliest, trademark designs.

It took many years before the case was settled, and FASA lost the legal battle, as Robotech also had money from Macross, and both were under

So, the Warhammer, Marauder, Griffin, Battlemaster, Rifleman, all of the Land Air Mechs (LAMs) such as the Wasp, Phoenix Hawk etc. were removed from further official canon and were dubbed these designs "Unseens".

Snipawolf, even Total Annihilation's cutscenes had shadows. Heck, C&C Red Alert, Dune..... I know you like the game itself, but try to look at it in an objective manner yes?
I already gave two, so its your turn to post.

Okay I was misinformed then. Read it on some macross fansite or something aeons ago... :-)

Oh yeah even the CD version of dune (which is full of FMV) in 1993 (or 1994, when it was rereleased) had shadows in it's cutscenes. Got it somewhere. 8)

SJ: Very impressive
