Probably because nobody wants to play those 1v1v1 Triangle maps..

Its not really a popular format, it always turns out 2 ppl ganging up on 1, then its a 1v1.

Would you like me to host all my replays from desert triad?
We play that map to death because there are not enough 3ffa's.
They dont turn into 2v1s unless one player has a clear advantage, any decent ffa player will see one player attacking another on his radar, and launch a strike at the attacking player, as his base will be relatively undefended.
Your "nobody wants to play them" is quite simply not true.

Odd player FFA's always end up as a gangrape match.

Skilled 2v1s are extrmely challenging. I can spank your garden variety 'star' players in an FFA, but throw a fellow SmuG or WarC in the mix and suddenly things get very, very, interesting.

Three player free-for-all matches are both important and challenging, and two on one can still be dangerous.

I for one would like more of these maps, and indeed, have been working on some new concepts in the hope of getting some out there - though I have no mapping experience. The biggest issue seems to be constructing the terrain and placing start points where it will not merely be a three-player or two-player map, yet is very good for those sorts of matches.
