this is a dificult question as some of the devs are working on both fixing spring and developing OSRTS (working name)

http://www.osrts.info

no new features are planned for the spring engine from the current dev team as far as i am aware!

When it's done. Could be next week or next year. The more you ask the slower it goes... 8)

aka 4-6 months, as it was 'soon' a month ago too, and we had a similair soon for 0.73b1 about 3-4 months before it was released too.

I've always found that what you give as a project deadline is usually a big underestimation, and that it can also be applied to the vast majority of other mods programs and libraries within spring aswell as the engine itself.

If every statement said about release times was corect then we'd all be playing uber AI Epic 1.0 and KAI 1.0 in fully finished EE under Spring 1.0 on 256x256 maps.

Sometiems even big commercial companies do it, Vista should have been released 5-6 months ago.

As for spring engine development, things always look near to completion only for a new feature that needs finishing, for example a GUI update or a new map format, and they always take longer than expected, the same with AI development.

Being new here, all I care about is spring remaining active, and the gamers sticking around.

AF, all developers have experience with that, when we say it takes a few days, it doesn't suddenly take many months to complete. I agree that release dates are almost always wrong, but it's still the best way there is to tell how close we are to a release.

I was just expressing what I think it is based on 2 years of experience with this project.

In this case I predict that it will be the simple particle system and the lua additions that cause the immediate hold up, followed by something else of greater importance.

Well devs, if any cheering will help you speed up, then three cheers for the dev team! Seriously, you guys are great.

I can't wait till the next release. I moved to Linux a couple months ago and have been without the ability to play at anything approaching the full resources of my computer since then. Being able to play linux vs. windows is huge (at least for me).
