Construction Progress

Post by own3d »

When you click on a construction unit building something, you can see the progress of what it is building (like in the original ta where it was at the bottom)

I er... hm... I guess maybe it'd have usefulness if you were watching construction ofscreen... er.. something...

Why would you want this?

I'd like that also, beats zooming in so you can see the miniature bar beside the health one.

Maybe just making the current bar bigger would be good.

It's also a bit difficult to judge how much the bar still has to go, especially for stockpile weapons that's annoying.

It also lets you tell whether a unit guarding a factory is healing the factory or building a unit. That can be hard to check now.

Easy (hopefully) fix for the coloured bar being hard to read: put a border around it, just a simple GL_LINE box. Or do the Sta*c*aft thing and use bitmaps for it. In fact ,that might look a little better

You can select the building and see in the lower corner its health. Works for any unit :P

perhaps the user should be able to edit the size, style, color, etc. of these bars in the options menu.

the health isn't an acurate representation. If it gets damaged then it will have health taken away, but not buildtime.

Perhaps a little floating number between 0-99% when your cursor is over the construction to represent buildtime would suffice the OP?

Well, for one thing it sucks to queue up nukes and have no idea when they'll launch. This idea isn't just solely useful for construction, its a great idea of replacing functionality found in OTA.

madrat look at the unti closely and yoy'll see a construction progress bar next to the hp bar at a 90* angle rising up. This is there for unfinished buildings and stockpiling of missiles. So what your requesting is already in there.

The little blue bar next to units tells their build state. It's more than sufficient.

hmmm, it's red on my two computers, the blue bar is the hp bar turned blue when a unit is paralyzed.

I guess at 1280x1024 I missed that little detail. My bad. I'll have to make sure I've got the magnifying glass out to play.
