Can it really survive a superlaser blast? Excuse me for my ignorance, but why would people think that Chuck Norris and the the Borgs are invincible?
I think it's time to bring the most "invincible" character of all time. Sorry, no picture, because he is claimed to be have no form (yet there is another claim that he made humans according to his own shape: isn't it paradoxical?). However, many people, especially in the US, believes that he DOES exist.
Don't tell me he got assimilated by Borg again, because according to the myth, he made everything in this universe, and that must include the Borg.
Anyway, no matter if he does exist at all, he is UNDEFEATABLE!!!
A deathstar superbeam would create a big hole in a borg cube, but a borg cube is a 14km x 14km roughly depending on what resources where available at the time. Borg cubes are incredibly powerful. For one if you detected a shield matrix in a cube, chances are its a bluff, and you'll find that shield matrix has a back up, then a backup for the backup, then another backup for the backups backup.
You could split a borg cube into hundreds of segments with a super laser and they'd all function as individual ships and eventually reform as a giant cube again save they'd now be immune ot the super laser technology.
That and the deathstars main beam weapon is a scaled up specially adapted version of the much smaller starwars weapons with a few twists and niches. A smaller shot fired from a turret and a detailed scan of the main weapon charging and preparing to fire would be enough to generate resistance, not to mention the maneouverability of a cube compared to the deathstar. a cube could just paralyze the weapon while its charging then move behind the deathstar and board it with drones.
As for super mega laser blasts I point you to species 8472, who managed to destroy a cube yet there will still functioning components of the cube in the wreckage with drones walking around repairing systems.
And look at the destruction of a borg cube later on, they beamed a complement of drones and regeneration hives during its destruction to another ship.... So even if the deathstar blew up the cube, the deathstar would be swamped with thousands of borg drones during the process.
Declares that the Borg cube is developing weapons of mass destruction and promptly calls for crippling UN sanctions and trade embargos them, before invading with 150,000 troops.
incorrect, the average lvl 1 unarmoured cube is 14Kmx14Km, and they're not conventional, nm lvl 4 tactical cubes.
Also the deathstar was either 120km(possibly 160 according to conflicting literature) in diameter making a dimater of 60/80 km, thats about slightly more than 4 tactical cubes.
And from teh firing sequence int eh movie, the tactical cube could have travelled several light years by the time the beam actually fired. Also, the deathstars not particularly nimble especially considering the sheer amount of time it took to move around a moon to fire at the rebel abse, despite cubes being very maneouverable and fast, able to spin several hundred thousand times faster than a deathstar.
So why the cube couldnt just fire one of its many many weapons to destroy the weapon assembly or transport a drone over to the guy pressing the red buttons, or simply move out of the way of the beam while all those little green beams are joining together to create the uber beam, or why the cube couldnt just open a transwarp conduit to somewhere far away for a second then return after the deathstar ahs fired and kick its ass while it prepares for another shot which should take a good while if it fired at full power to begin with..........
Ships in ST are simply to quick for the deathstar, and borg just pwn everything, after 10 seconds of fighter fire by a deathstars turrets it would be impervious, and with each cube housing hundreds of thousands of drones, all with armour and personal shielding, and able to survive in space with no atmosphere and with extraordinary strength, even if the cube was blown up by the uber beam of death, the wreckage of the cube would still be functional and drones would board the deathstar unopposed due to their newfound immunity.
A big laser beam isnt how you defeat borg, if anything its an invitation to be pwned by them. The Borg on much more intelligent than you give them credit for. Even considering it took the rebels a single fighter and a single torpedo to destroy the deathstar, why couldnt the cube do the same thing with its far superior sensors shielding and weaponry?
