Yeah, all the games from that company apparently use StarForce.

Ya but I assume they aren't hot on bank transfers so I'd need a credit card for that.

Dang. Thats a bummer...

I'm sure there is a way to get the game WITHOUT starforce and not downloading it...but I'm not sure what that way is. Maybe there's a different box...

You can get it off amazon for 35 euros. StarDock accepts paypal as well so it's not that bad either.

Oh what's so bad about StarForce? Is it spyware (aka sends anonymous data to help developement :P)?

Also I'm sure there are cracks for that game available which will make the game (after you bought it of course) run without StarForce.

Naah, it wrecks your drive hardware and causes system instability.

:(

Starforce Removal Tool for the win...

Anyway there are cracks available so StarForce is not that much of a problem. The game's pretty ok by the way. Full of minigames... it's a little bit like freelancer in 2D with random rolled items in a randomly generated universe.

The ground combat (and there's another arcade shooter part of the game ) are just mini games. Looks a bit incomplete but it's fun. Feels like Z with resources and generally faster.

Nonetheless it's fun just to fly through the galaxy, raid a merchant here, kill a pirate there and get killed by one of the three "dominator" races. They're evil robots who want to kill everything else. And the goal of the game is... *drumroll* to annihilate the three evil robot races' leaders. :P
<spoilers>I think one of them has to be defeated in space combat, one in ground and one in the sidescroller arcade shooter part.</spoilers>

I've had some difficulties at the beginning because all systems around my starting location were occupied by these evil robots. Any (random) quest the government assigned me to required to fly through one of the sectors and get annihilated on the spot. So I was basically restricted to two systems... duh.

There's a nice beginner's guide on GameFAQs which is quite useful because the manual is rather limited.
