Free sounds?

Post by PauloMorfeo »

A long time ago, i remember a few packs of free sounds beeing around.

I think one of them was from DrInferno. But, after this time, the links seems to be broken and i can't get it anymore.

Anyone knows where i can find good TAish sounds or sound packs that are, of course, free?

I'd love a GPL collection of weapon sounds or unit responses.
Respones as in machine sounds so it can be used on a variety of mods, not only TA'ish responses. Then weapon sounds as in rockets/missiles, lasers, cannons, small caliber arms, large caliber arms, etcetera.

It's a pain for me to do them myself and I might end up stealing and remixing non GPL'd ones from various games. :?

So if anyone got something to contribute that'd be nice 8)

not directly for weapon-sounds but perhaps as free background-music: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Categ ... ical_music

One of the things which don't work in spring.
Okay you could make a jukebox unit and have it play random songs but it's not really what I'm looking for.

How would you do them? I mean, use some program to create the basic sound .. or record yourself making weird sounds and then giving them a treatment?

Something like that. Ain't no good. Made me end up stealing and heavily cutting and remixing stuff from commercial games. :?

Some of them are half decent. Machines --> Mixer1 could be used for a minigun for example. They are free as long as they are not being sold or being offered for download.

Pah, I make my own, I have a crap voice (far too... Weird.. if I could lose something I could make it sound like a marine.. I think I need to scream it, like marines did, but my parents would kill me >.>)

I have a chaingun/m-gun sound, its pretty good.. Best I have, cuz its the first I made :P It has a pretty cool cooling off sound at the end :P

Youtube videos are a viable source if you want to make sure that your sounds are not copyrighted. Its where most of the 1944 weapon sounds came from - with some tweaking, of course.
