...someone wanted to make a galciv2 rts.

Prophecy? :P

*drool*

I really liked GalCiv2, except for it's stupid combat system. MoO2 battles is all I wanted and shiny BOTF battles is what we got.

Well this is suprisingly interesting.

MOO2 has the best turn based space combat EVER. GIVE MY STELLER CONVERTERS.

Loved the way you could fit 6 Steller converters on 1 ship If you resurched the right stuff...

To my experience a doom star with ~99 heavy mount plasma cannons, the range reduction reducer and achilles targeting thing was more effective, put the time thingy and teleport on it and it kills 20+ doom stars each round. Oh well phasers own everything with shields on after all but I kinda hate the sound they make. Hey did you know you could beat the antarans with a single destroyer even in late game? It takes the right tech and a lot of time but it's possible. I think we should start a MoO2 thread instead of spamming this one... :P

The company making Sins of a Solar Empire currently has Grumble on staff. He is an excellent OTA player, a veteran member of TAU community, and a world-class 3D modeler and animator.

Search for him on TAU forums :P

Heavy mount is less worth than the standard mount ones. And the teleporter is a waste of space which could easily fit more Plasma Cannons (especially considering that the ones you are proposing are the long ranged Heavy Mount). No teleporter and Standard mounts, you could get, if i remember well, around 200 Plasma Cannons.

And i seem to remember that there was one or two more upgraders you could add to your ship that would greatly increase it's usefullness...

That time space compressor thingy plus the phase cloak = impossible to defeat. My freind Paul defeated the antares with litteraly a single doom star that had a single space/time compressor, a phase cloak and a laser and nothing else. He'd fire, then take his extra turn to turn invisible, then fire, then take his extra turn to turn invisible, and so on and so forth.

Its depressingly funny to watch!

i loved the way subteranean populations stacked togheter on same planet doubling your population capacity and sometime tripling it(bug/exploit) :P
i never got to play moo2 online, anywhere they still playing it?

as for that game is an old dream, star wars empire at war allready did it on a small scale and is multiplayer too(well for now campaign mode is for two people only for some obscure reason). You plan the strategy on the galaxy and can fight rts space and land battles.

Same here, only that I've done it with either a destroyer or battle ship. Takes it's time yeah.

I thought heavy mount plasma cannons did twice the damage for +50% space cost? Especially at low range.

I usually take the teleporter on it because I use no more than 5 or 10 of them and against a fleet of 250 (was that the limit) battle ships, titans and doom stars. It's quite neat to teleport around, expecially when you do way more damage at close range. But I guess I could remove it completely. Also the dampener field is extremely useful unless you minimize class X shields till they're small than the dampener.

I sincerely hope it doesn't get eaten by the Greatest Wannabe Game Ever Monster. Its predecessor called Alien Intelligence vanished w/o a trace. It was supposed to be the greatest RTS ever. Back then they were calling a merger between MOO2, Pax Imperia and Star Craft, it had even some kind of icky zerg colony ships and you could battle it like starcraft over surface, in space like pax imperia and plan startegy on the galaxy like in MOO. Perhaps it wasn't its time. Perhaps it got silenced, bought who knows.
