some threads should be deleted instead of locked?

You lose the rational elements within the thread when you delete it. There are components of every angry outburst that to somebody have validity.

Maybe so non mod people cant complain about disappearing threads & call mods over zealous.

i.e ever seen commerical companys remove threads that critize changes to there game i.e Star Wars Galaxies for one.

Locked thread doesnt do much harm & allows others to see why someones threads gets locked / person in question gets banned / muted.
