You can go with guns only in the two first missions too. Just ask Paul for the GEP gun, since one of the terrorists have a sniper rifle for you anyway. I think there's only one part in the game where stealth is actually required, and only for 5 minutes or so.KDR_11k wrote:I got sick of sneaking around by the time I hit the second mission so I wouldn't know what the mid or late game is like.Foxomaniac wrote:Lies, Mid/Late-game I mostly blew off the front door being the FPS maniac that I am.
And I used the pistol too - screw all other guns.
Maybe you were just playing at a too high difficulty level.
I'm still not convinced that you were playing the same version of Deus Ex that the rest of us did.

you CAN blast in at the first/2nd mission, you don't have to use stealth.KDR_11k wrote:I got sick of sneaking around by the time I hit the second mission so I wouldn't know what the mid or late game is like.Foxomaniac wrote:Lies, Mid/Late-game I mostly blew off the front door being the FPS maniac that I am.

But, the good guys at unatco won't like you wasting lives with such ease ;P.
Once uh, some stuff happens and you find some stuff out - you can safely ditch stealth.
Please, PLEASE play Doosex some more

I kill anyone I see anyway, stealth just means I try to remain hidden. I think I have yet to play a stealth game where I manage to not get spotted, usually I just give a best effort and then kill everyone in sight once spotted. I hate stealth games that don't let you eliminate enemies, an area is only done when every last enemy is dead!

System and dues ex, now thats 2 games you should def own, as for the best, I dont think I can pick either one, both have awsome stories,
xerxes and the audio logs in system gave it the most tense atmosphere I ever experineced in a game, it does video game horror better than any other. Dissapointing ending though
Dues ex has better graphics and combat, government conspiracies, ancient organisations, plus the many diff paths you can take to complete the game....
Ughhh I cant decide, its just too tough,
However I do know that Fallout 1 and 2 are up there with those two for me.
Oblivion was good, fallout was better...
Violent, gritty post apocalyptica > the same bloody npc voice actors and bows and arrows any day of the week.

to high difficulty level?? Its not worth playing on anything but realistic! and I played it like CS with advanced pistol and never used stealth at all. terrorists are lame shots, if you strafe they generaly miss. then, when they reload for 5 SECONDS!! just twock them with the crowbar. there is NO need to play this game stealth if your pro headshot.
I was sort of considering his skill level.1v0ry_k1ng wrote:to high difficulty level?? I'm playing a completely different kind of game this playthrough... going to be a low-tech weapons expert before anything else. Only need like 400 more skill points and I'll have it. But I dropped my baton and now I have no melee weapon and I'm about to attack the generator building
This sounds really pathetic, and I'm actually ashamed of it because I've heard from everyone what a great game it is... but I lost patience in Fallout 2 and never really advanced very far. I got to, like, the first town or something. I went to this gun shop guy, was floored by the prices, and shot him dead to steal his entire inventory ^^ But then the bloody half-dead people took an hour per turn to lurch away from me at full speed and I just said, no more.
Sigh... I guess I'll have to give it another go one of these days. Does anyone have any advice on good starting character settings? For instance, I learned that being "good looking" and male at the same time is generally a bad thing, since the people you negotiate with are mostly male as well and it pisses them off to talk to someone better looking than they are.

ME TOO!!! I stood in the subway platform and lobbed about 30 grenades, snuck around the vents, killed a bot here, a bot there... I was afraid he was really just that tough but then later on I just got him with a WP rocket and he was toast.Felix the Cat wrote:*SPOILER ALERT*
Yeah Fox, I did the same thing... it annoyed me to no end. But then again, the creators probably didn't think it was possible to do that.
In fact, I went back to my saved game just before I killed everything except Gunther and just surrendered peacefully, so I didn't waste any ammo or grenades.

I have great skill juggling and generally devastating enemies with rocket launchers and impact grenades but I didn't have any of those on me in that missionZellSF wrote:I was sort of considering his skill level.1v0ry_k1ng wrote:to high difficulty level?? You can ask Paul Denton for a GEP gun. There's tons of grenades in Deus Ex. If you didn't have those weapons, it's sort of your fault.KDR_11k wrote:I have great skill juggling and generally devastating enemies with rocket launchers and impact grenades but I didn't have any of those on me in that missionZellSF wrote:I was sort of considering his skill level.1v0ry_k1ng wrote:to high difficulty level?? I did it in a diffrent way :Caydr wrote: ME TOO!!! I stood in the subway platform and lobbed about 30 grenades, snuck around the vents, killed a bot here, a bot there... I was afraid he was really just that tough but then later on I just got him with a WP rocket and he was toast.
I had a scramble 'nade, threw it on the big-bad-mean bot and it did much of the work for me - quickly EMP'd it and nade'd the rest of the bots, took the last few remaining soldiers with headshots and faced off gunther - until I realized he's invincible.
I killed him later on using his KillCode (or whatever it was called, I forgot).
Fallout II is Fantastic ^^
Can't wait for fallout III (Hurry up Bethusda!)
I've not played deus ex for quite a while, but i played multiplayer SS2 with steve diggz and machio, and tbh it ruins it. SS2 is about being piss scared and taking your time, which dosen't happen in multiplayer as it wasn't really designed with it in mind.
singleplayer SS2 is a scariest game i've ever played
Although i had a heart attack once when quake came out and i had my first Fiend jump out of the shadows at me ^^
