Ok thanks everyone. I ported another TA map, Coast to Coast but it crashes spring on loading the map, I have re checked the maps files ie: terrain .bmp, metal map and height map all is well there and mapconv gives no errors on compilation, which is why I asked :o the terrain .bmp is 3360 x 2315 in size.
The map is 1mb, if I post a link could someone give it a whirl

Mapconv assumes you follow the input guidances it has in the help text and doesnt do much error checking.

I think that means maps dimension must be multiple of 1024. Try making a 3072x2048 map instead.

well I went and re sized the terrain .bmp to 3072 x 2048 and came up with a size of 385 x 257 , (that includes the extra pixel) for the metal map and the heightmap, This is now crashing mapconv, I get "program error"
mapconv.exe has gererated errors and will be closed by windows.

I gave up on trying to get this map to work in a rectangular shape, so I re scaled the map to be square and everything worked perfectly "but the map now looks like s**t", so it may be the case that certain rectangular maps are still an issue for either spring itself or mapconv.
