I hear the whiners already, ANOTHER COMET FFS, what is wrong with you!!!

Well the fact is although Comet is the most popular map (besides Speedmetal) for AA @ least. It alwasy had some tiny balance issues. And as some ppl play this map for their life i decided to balance it.

So, i ereased the top part of the map and copied (after rotating 180 degrees) th bottom part on it. So now the top and bottom part are exactly the same. So it should be balanced for 1v1 now. Also i tried to make some nice metalpatches, and i think turned out pretty good. Also the craters and stuff are made alittle darker so it looks a bit less boring.

And now after this long and boring story, some eyecandy and a download link. :)

complete crap.

I HATE 100% mirrored maps...

a small adjustment to metal deposit locations, sure, small tweaking on metal amounts sure, small tweaking on locations for the craters sure...

but urgh, to copy it, rotate it, and fucking make another mirror map?

you won't see me playing it, encouraging it, or doing squat with it. ever.

at least add some freakin new content... if you are gonna rape a classic map like that.. :roll:

BALANCE is not nessicarially = IDENTICAL sides.

Mirrored is the most balanced way it can be made. And when this map is used for a good chunk of ladder games how it looks is completely irrelevant.

actually yes, I saw it before I even read the description.

/me is an artist, remember? :wink:

its called rotational symmetry, and I can spot it in a heartbeat.

I say you should have kept the terrain but mirroed the metal patchets. Or atleasth keep the huge craters instead of the mirroed ones. :(

Im not going to lamblast you for the rotation (Hell... I've done it befor) however this is a small simple map. So realy It would not have been much effort to have it non-symetrical.

Just because its not an exact flip would not make it less balanced, you just need teh same feature on both side (not features an in the things you place on a map, as in teh same quality on each side)

So both sides should offer equal cover, have equal choke points, have an equal amount of elevations ect... That way it will still be perfectly balanced, but it wont be mirrored.

BTW, just Im nither saying that for a map to be balanced you have to follow the above, just that it helps. Else you have to balance by ofesting disadvantage with other advantages (and this is in my opinon teh best way to map, so what if you got less starting metal when you have this huge mountain... or hell im all in the open, but I got loads of metal/geo.)

I have to confess that i also like mirroring my Maps..

THere is simply no way to calculate the Relation between Heights, Chockepoints and Metall(&Geos).. better one Map mirrored and played than one not mirrored and arhived... Good work Noize.

the mirroring is actually fairly obvious just by looking at the first image NOiZE posted. I'm not going to get heated about it, but I agree with Lathan and Bruce.

I hope you used metal patches with better contrast than on the previous one. I had to turn on the F4 to see them when zoomed out :|

I would just like to point out that all the people who are coming out so heavily against mirroring fall more in the "content creator/artist" category and the ones who approve of the map fall more into the "player" category.

Please don't be so elitist about the artistic merits of maps. Let people play what they want, if they don't like it they won't play and you have that choice to. That doesn't mean you have to be so negative and make nozie out to be the antichrist for making a map that people requested.

Why did no-one complain about the mirrored versions of DeltaSiege IceXuiX released in the DeltaSiege package a long time ago? 8)

There's still the original CC and Forboding is making his own rebalance without mirroring so there's plenty of choices.
