BF2142
Let it be known, I hate online shooters with a passion.
But I LOVE BF2142.
1st: There are no wimpy laser guns, there are just killy-er versions of bullet weapons. My personal favorite is what I call the Spark Gun, because everything you hit sparks up. Even people.
2nd: Mechs are FTW. Sure, they have weaknesses, but the most fun I have is when running with your squad and getting fired on by one, or weaving through the legs of one of your own while launching an offensive.
3rd: Titan mode is the best twist on 'flag cap' I could hope for. For one, you don't capture flags, you capture Anti-Titan Missile Platforms. Then, when the shield is down, you use drop-pods to board and then destroy the Titan from within.
Anyone else check out the demo and find it fun (or not)? I just started to get into BF2 after aeons of single-play, and as long as there are no morons, it's a great game.

Gun sway is usually optional isn't it?
The trailer seemed interesting and I've heard a lot of good things from demo players. I might actually have to buy this one, it sounds decent. But probably 3 months after launch, to see if its problems get patched. It seems like maybe 1942, 2, and all expansions were sort of leading up to this ultimate goal. I hope if DICE is still the developer they learn from their past mistakes.

And maybe we'll learn the moon really IS made out of cheese.as long as there are no morons

anyway.... my biggest disappointment is that the demo is so limited!?!?!?
i mean no defib, no grenades, this is a pain in the ass and its gonna turn off any new players.
I got into the beta and even with all the problems it was a blast. having access to all the unlocks really helped u get a feel for the game. I remember i played on one server for a solid 3 hours got several field upgrades made full use of VOIP and actually worked as a squad. u miss out on a big part of the game when there aren't any unlocks...
my only actual balance arguement is that the lmg is way to accurate, with the whole right click thing, that people will use it instead of an assualt rifle...

theres loads of working hacks for it already...... im gona wait untill they patch them.

Well, it runs perfectly on my 1,8 Ghz.
Its just too bad that there is no fun in playing it without any unlock, they took that system to the extreme this time.
Titan mode is a nice concept, but it is not quite there yet, way too little emphazis on the titan if you ask me.
Also, i dont remember, were blackhawks (hover trans) and APCs always also spawn points ? This feature lets battles end way too quick. Squad Leader respawn might just be enough.

Apc and air trans are only spawns in titan mode not in conquest (not sure why thats even needed with squad beacon and such)
While it is a bit unlock heavy it just means that the first few unlocks people do are pretty standard. Nades, sprint, beacon for those aspiring leaders, demo for the recon boys, defib for medic.
Honestly i think people will have a lot of fun with this and it will kinda force u into a role but that isn't a bad thing. I would rather play with a dedicated Recon or Engi than someone who is half-assing it
