without chains of transport hellos with repeat orders to bring units to the front, and other groups to drop attack groups in the correct position, it is nearly impossible to compete with the mobility and stealth of URC. but if GD can be at the site of the battle in undisrupted formation, they can easily knock out a force of URC 2x its size with correct application of ion and laser tanks. GD = harder to play than URC but more rewarding.

will scout tanks be able to build recon poles? will the GD mobile air pad be a big square shaped tank with a turret at each corner like the Z fort: 2 l1 aa turrets and 2l1 cannon turrets.
wont making stealth mechs harder to detect result in more "omg a horde of urc units have appeared from nowhere and trashed everything before I could counter attacK" things? I thought they were okay at slipping through lines already, they just gotta be careful. do radar/sonar planes have fuel next version? are GD hubs armed?
cant wait till next version ^^

Its not that hard if you've played a couple of games.silp wrote:Please make the models more distinguishable on the first look, like OTA and AA do. I find it very hard to see which units sport which guns, since most of the tanks and bots of the same class look very similar. IMHO this is a huge factor that makes a mod playable (and enjoyable).
I have played a Myriad of other RTS games.. and I mean that I have played quite a damn few games in my time.. TA is the ONLY rts game I know that has such radically different looking units.. every other RTS game Ive played has a very uniform coherent design throughout its tech levels and sides that gets them to look all very simliar, TA does not do this anywhere in the game, the only units that look simliar at different levels are the AK/Pyro.. none of the other units look like any other unit.. and I believe If I found someone who never played TA, and switched key units around between the sides in a mod and then showed them the game they would not be able to pic out which units were switched.. I doubt this would happen in any other game I know of..
Another thing is spring lets you ZOOM way farther out than any other game I know.. and for some reason people take massive advantage of this and ZOOM way the hell out.. and then you complain that the units look to similiar, well not shit sherlock you zoomed way the fuck out of course they will look similiar... The only reason TA doesnt suffer from this as much is becasue its units look nothing at all like eachother.. and dont argue otherwise just go look at them its true, there is no unified design paradigm at all.. and this is especially true in AA where a bunch of 3rd party units have been added that also dont really fit in with current design paradigms..
Case in Point: I have stated that my goal was to have the units look similiar to show they were based off of the same chassis this is part of my modeling and mod goal, I AM NOT CHANGING IT.. so dont ask, if you play the game for a few games you will no doubt get used to it as all the other people who play mod have.. They had the exact same complaint as you did but now they can tell at a distance what units are what no problem...
So 1. PLAY THE MOD MORE, once is not gonna cut it
2. DONT ZOOM OUT SO MUCH, you dont fricking need to it causes lag anyway..

are gd hubs armed? is NI on the cards in the near future? holy crap GD artillery wipes the floor with URC. are gd hubs armed?
how do urc deal with an advancing line of l2 GD tanks? are gd hubs armed?
and the units look fine, it took me about 10 minutes to memorise them all. how come l2 mechs can fire over GD walls? is it because their guns are higher up?

urc deal with an advancing line of l2 GD tanks using combined arms, Shotgun mechs (airdroped behind them works really well :) ) and other sneaky tactics. gd hubs aren't armed.
