Maybe here is the place for suggestion? Since writing in General Discussion doesn't really get dev attention.
Currently the color of the sky below the horizon is always blue, I found no .smd values to change it. Can we have a FarawayColor entry in the [ATMOSPHERE] part of the .smd to change it to whatever we want? Default as the current royal blue if not defined.
I can't change the map surface. Can we have a WaterPicture entry in the [WATER] part of the .smd to specify what picture to use for the map surface? Default as /bitmaps/ocean.jpg if undefined. If possible allow other file format than jpg. That way maps set on lava map can use a /bitmaps/lava.png instead, and when someone make a new lava surface picture it gets applied to all lava map.
My graphic card is too old and don't do it, but on screenshots by others I noticed that water surface on good PC can have reflections and wavelets. Lava or acid doesn't reflect the same way as pure water, so we needs tags to control the reflection, and also the general tint of the water surface. As well as any other water effect.
Note: I changed ocean.jpg to a red one. The water surface was redder. However, when zooming out, there was a point where it suddenly reverted to blue. Any idea why?
New map tags request

The sky color bellow the horizon is defined by the fog color.
Having more options for the water in the map is something we want to implement, hopefully we can make a tag to at least change the water texture for next release.
The color reverting to blue when you zoom out is probably because of the fog being blue and zooming out enough make the fog tint the terrain and water blue.

Thanks for the info. I set the FogColor to 0 0 0. The color at the horizon seem to be the fog, but there's still some blue under the horizon, as you can see on that picture. I don't think it's the water, as I tried with green water and pure black water.

Re: New map tags request
There is now a standard way of requesting a feature. Go to the Sourceforge site (you can find it's link on the news section). There, you have a section for reporting bugs and other insects, as well as a section for requesting features.zwzsg wrote:Maybe here is the place for suggestion? That map looks really nice!zwzsg wrote:as you can see on that picture

Makes me feel like i'm going to play Unreal Tournament in a wonderfull RTS mode (don't know why... Maybe it's the colours!?).

And while you're at it, don't forget to fix the cloud color tag. No matter what values I put the clouds are always whiteish. And even with a 0 density, there's still a few clouds left. And if someone feels like it, new clouds type would be welcome. Things like aurora borealis, star dotted background, lightening storm, etc.., with lots of .smd values to control them, so we have a few more choice for aliens planet. Not very urgent.
