Client Graphics Crashing the System

Post by electricitylikesme »

I recently updated most of the drivers on my system (nForce 250 mobo, ATI 9600 XT graphics card) to try and fix a network disconnect problem (no idea if it worked).

However TA Spring has now started crashing shortly after I start a game - white dots and lines are visible intermittently on the screen right before the graphics freezes and the driver does a VPU recover.

My driver versions are:

ATI CATALYST Graphics Drivers: 6.8
nVidia nForce Mobo Drivers: 5.11

Does anyone else have this problem? It only seems to affect Spring, and not any of my other games.

It's because ATI hates openGL, and doesn't support it properly.

Is there anything specific I can do to try and fix it? The funny thing it looks like what happens when you overclock the core of a card too high, but it only happens in Spring.

I'm having a similar problem with my GeForce 4 TI 4600x8 with a wide-selection of NVIDIA drivers. The game will suddenly hang; the map turns white, units will disappear, and tries to recover after an unknown amount of time.

In addition, this same problem can cause me to loose connection with the game's host. :(

What other problems were you having other than the network disconnect issue before you did driver upgrades?

In regards to your network disconnect issue:
1) Did you setup your software and hardware firewall (if applicable) to allow TASpring access to your network (if applicable), internet, and allow incoming and outgoing connections?
2) Do you have issues with your network, network card, or network cable outside of TASpring?
3) Do you have power management setup so that it doesn't turn off your network card?

The network disconnect issue was apparently one which has plagued the nVidia nForce 250 series of motherboards. I did a BIOS update and so far haven't experienced any problems. Amongst those driver updates though I've gone through a fairly extensive repair of my system (things crashing when I tried to roll them back) BUT...the bug in TA Spring is still there. I never had to do anything specific to get TA Spring to work with my network.

The issue just seems be that the game locks up the graphics card somehow after a few seconds of play time - the screen will freeze then I'll get the VPU recovery message.
