Making proper geothermal vents

Post by Caydr »

Either I get none, or I get 8 clustered together. What's the secret to get JUST ONE? I've got a map standing by, ready to be released, but with the option of either 92 geothermal vents or none!

Make sure it really is one pixel that you are placing. You could be placing more than one pixel.

I found that with a feature map that is 1:8 the size of the texture map, a 4-pixel round brush at 100% hardness lays exactly one geothermal vent.

Unfortunately... that's not what I'm currently using. My feature map is 1:1 with the texture map, and a 4-pixel brush lays nothing at all while a 5-pixel brush lays 6!

Maybe I'll just give in and resize the feature map... too bad.

What's up, you ask for my MSN and you don't add me.

It's like rejection on a whole new level.

if you use a metal map smaller than the actual map.bmp file, the metal map will be resized, and this will make the green pixel be 4 or 16 pixel in fact, and so, will produce many vents.
Just make sure the metal map is the same size that the bitmap map, and you will be alrigth.
