New reflective textures (still experimenting)

(arent they supposed to reflect other units too, not just the environment?)

Crabro fighter. Call it whatever you want Crabro was just to name the file something. It's the latin word for hornet.

560 polygons. changed the design a bit.

i really dont know about the current barracks etc
don't look that good to me, after you've balance the mod, finished it etc could you make them actual factories made of bricks? that would look better i think, otherwise it looks like you put Duplo with lego (actually works with certain bricks, fun lol :D)

Of course, that thing is a piece of shit placeholder for testing textures and the random-color generator.

All the end-models will have properly scaled bricks.

I made the first attempt at the random block generator, and there has GOT to be an easier way to do this. Its taking forever.

It seriously took me 3 hours today to model, export, set up the hierarchy, texture (4x), and script.

I dont think im going use this idea anymore, because it will be christmas before i get them all done.

So, why don't you make standard blocs, and then just merge them ?
I mean, like EE : the takns would have the same chassis, and this is easier to make, even with random-coulored bricks.

Merge them? How? Unless im using it incorrectly, your program doesnt merge the hierarchies so its somewhat useless to me

A standard set of legos would really be good - not all the complicated stuff, just the basic blocks and plates. That way everything would be modelled to same scale...

Doesn't have the exact measurements, but it shows the ratios...

Like so? (studs are just placeholders)

That'd be great, as long as they were in multiple formats.

The problem with making actual 3D studs is that the polygon count shoots through the roof. Most of my models are already 500+ polygons, even for the basic lvl1 structures (i've redone them since the last screenshot)

Thats why I made the textures...

Ehh, remember Caydr proved that it doesn't make it laggier?

Yeah, but with the octa studs the polycount jumps 22 triangles per stud. That works out to an extra 88 polygons for four studs. That is way too much

Suggestion: Instead of killing off nanospray, why not see if it can be made so each fragment is a different colour. NANO BLOCKS!

And even using cubes would be drastic. 12 triangles per stud. Thats an extra 48 for 4 of them.

And even if the cubes were doable, i think the textures of real studs look better than cubes

Anyone know how to do this?
